Art Therapist - Artist Statement

I believe in the strengths and agency of individuals. Therefore, my goal as an art therapist is to create opportunities for people to share their stories and experiences through art making. I choose to work from a relational perspective that emphasizes trust and relationship-building between my clients and myself.

My artist identity is strongly influenced by my work as an art therapist. My art practice allows me to process and reflect on my experiences and interactions with others, including clients. Working with other people in varied settings also provides me with new ideas and inspires ways of pushing the boundaries of art materials. Making art helps me understand how I am shaped by these interactions and, in doing so, plays a critical role in supporting my growth as a person and therapist.
